Careium hosts TSA for strategic talks and technology showcase at UK office

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting The Telecare Services Association (TSA) at our UK office in Blackburn. Alyson Scurfield, CEO, and Charlotte Findlay, Head of Membership Services, were invited by Joe McLoughlin, our UK Managing Director, to meet with our CEO Christian Walen and the UK Senior Leadership Team. The morning was filled with productive discussions, including the pace of the digital switchover and Lord Darzi’s recent investigation into the NHS, which evaluates patient access, quality of care, and overall health system performance.

TSA visit to Blackburn

Our discussions started with our plans to exhibit at next year’s ITEC conference and how we look forward to strengthening our engagement with the TSA. This includes our active participation in their new governance structure, such as Gary Clark, our Technical Director, being appointed to the Sector Risk and Innovation Group, and Ben Park, Operations Director (Field & Customer Services), role within the National Providers Working Group.

Gary Clark demonstrated how our rSIM technology is designed to provide enhanced connectivity and reliability for telecare services, particularly in dispersed housing and independent living environments. We shared with the TSA how our new digital alarm solution has been successfully implemented by Monmouthshire Housing Association. As the first housing association to fully adopt the ‘Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation’ (TAPPI) principles, they are leading the way in improving technology support for residents living independently. Gary also highlighted how we now have 100K digital devices online in the UK and we are transforming care delivery with partners like Ethelcare for Cumberland Council through innovative, cost-effective virtual care services.

Following this, Alyson and Charlotte toured our Alarm Receiving Centre, led by Lauren Purser, Customer Operations Director, where they saw firsthand how we support our customers.

Gary commented on the day, “Hosting the TSA allowed us to highlight the progress we’ve made over the last two years, particularly in service, technology, and transformation. We discussed our digital switchover programme, future innovations, and how our proactive and preventative technologies are reshaping care delivery. It was also insightful to hear about TSA’s priorities and how we can collaborate to support the sector.”

Alyson shared her impressions, stating, “My biggest takeaway was the commitment to quality and safety shown by Careium, and their vision for remodelling TEC. Our discussions were energising & thought-provoking, focussing on how collectively between TSA and our member organisations, we can be a driving force.“

Charlotte commented on the positive atmosphere at Careium, noting, “It was enlightening to see the positive culture across all teams within Careium and every individual I spoke to, I could tell were committed to making a difference. The company values were visible from all angles of the ARC and you could feel the positive buzz in the room.”

Joe McLoughlin, our MD, concluded “It was fantastic to host Alyson and Charlotte at our Blackburn office. The visit energised our team and gave us a great platform to discuss our strategic role in TSA’s new governance structure. We also addressed challenges with the technology switchover, focusing on mitigating risks and advancing innovation in our independent living scheme solutions.”

“We look forward to continued engagement with the TSA and to a future of shared successes, driving innovation and transforming health and wellbeing in the sector.”
