Partnership to Promote Recycling of Electrical Equipment

We are proud to announce our partnership with Material Focus, for local disposal and recycling of our telecare equipment. This collaboration marks our commitment to sustainable practices and social responsibility as we work to reduce environmental impact and improve operational efficiencies.

Material Focus, a leading independent not-for-profit organisation, is committed to stopping the disposal of electricals and promoting their reuse and recycling. By becoming the first telecare company to be working with them, we take pride in being able to help our customers understand responsible disposal methods for old analogue telecare electrical equipment.

Our partnership aligns with our environmental strategy, reinforcing our commitment to reduce waste and lessen our impact on the environment. Collaborating with a trusted partner who shares our vision for a greener future is a significant step towards achieving our sustainability goals. Notably, Material Focus has worked alongside organisations like John Lewis, Currys PC World, Boots and Halfords, offering customers numerous ways to reuse, repair or recycle old electricals.

To make recycling easier for the local community, we have established drop-off recycling points at our UK headquarters in Aspinall House, Blackburn, and with City Sprint, our courier and delivery partner, in Crawley. These points can be used by the local community to responsibly dispose of their own electrical waste.

Recent research by Material Focus has found that UK householders are hoarding 527 million small electrical items, an average of nearly 20 per household. The problem is set to get worse as waste electricals are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world and the UK. Instead, the majority of electricals can either be re-used or the materials contained in them recycled by being turned into anything from life-saving equipment to children’s playgrounds.

“Our partnership with Material Focus shows our dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions in our industry. It provides us with the opportunity to lead by example and encourage both our customers and the wider community to make more environmentally responsible choices,” said Ben Park, Director of Operations – Field & Customer Services.
